Windows Mobile 6.5 Challenges iPhone & Android Operating Systems

The strength of the Apple iPhone and Google Android operating systems in the mobile phone market gives Microsoft a significant challenge to force their way back into the reckoning. Its latest Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system is set for release, with mobile consumers looking on intriguingly with interest as Microsoft seeks to find its place in the market.

As a multimedia mobile device, the iPhone and the latest Google Android handsets such as the HTC Magic and HTC Hero are very highly rated and enjoy a stronghold with users that wish to enjoy compatibility and flexibility both in the home and at work. Yet Microsoft is keen to target this same crowd by offering Exchange email software and database access at work as well as connectivity to social networking and music applications at the touch of a button at home.

Mobile phone usage has evolved over the last couple of years in a considerable fashion. No longer are users happy to own a device for calls and a device for multimedia - the expectation is to be able to purchase and enjoy using a single device that is fused to meet both consumer and business needs.

HTC has added its weight behind the latest Windows Mobile 6.5 software by including the operating system in its latest handsets, the Touch2 and the Touch HD2 - due for release next week. A revamped version of the Internet Explorer mobile interface is set to impress consumers as well as businessmen that will largely seek the OS for its synergy with Microsoft Exchange servers.

It was revealed that only ten percent of the mobile consumer market realised that there is a Windows Mobile service available, however this is largely due to Microsoft's previous primary targeting towards business users. The extra competition in the multimedia and business mobile market can only be good for the consumer.

How to Find Discount T-Mobile Android Phones

Not unlike Verizon Wireless and Sprint, T-Mobile has rolled out a large selection of Android based smartphones. The days of Verizon's monopoly on the new technology with the Motorola Droid are long gone.

T-Mobile has made itself stand out by having the best deals of all the carriers. Presently, the LG Optimus leads the way, along with the Motorola Cliq, Charm and DEFY. That doesn't even include the Android phones which are made in house by T-Mobile that are great values.

If you're old school and don't like buying things online, you can always go to your nearest licensed T-Mobile dealer. Sometimes it's a good idea to look at independent retailers because their deals are sometimes better. However, doing it in person just takes more time.

If you spend your time, you can find all these phones for free online. Start with Google and search for terms like "T-Mobile Android phones" or "Android phones for T-Mobile" That will give you a full list of online sources to order your new smartphone. It should also bring up a lot of review sites, so that you can make more informed choices, Even better, a lot of the review sites (like CNET or Mobiledia) give you a list of retailers and the best prices online at the end of their reviews.

Finally, you can go to places like eBay or Amazon.com if you don't want to sign onto a new contract with your phone. It won't be free but you won't be tied to one carrier, either.

The android phone in the tattoo of the HTC is perhaps the cheapest of all the android phones available till date. This device was previously known as the Click. It has a 2.8 inch, 320 x 240 touch screens. Apart from that, it also has a directional pad instead of the trackball which is in use generally.

This handset has a 3.2-megapixel camera 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS as well as a 528MHz processor. The power of the RAM is 256 MB and it comes with a micro SDHC storage. In fact, some of these features are usual to most of the HTC devices while some of them have been added in the HTC tattoo.

This phone has the apps though it is not a Google branded phone. It uses the custom sense UI of HTC in order to access the top level contacts quickly. Apart from that, it can also access Twitter as well as other frequently accessed features.

HTC Droid Incredible Vs Motorola Droid - A Comparison Between 2 Android Phones

The cellphone I currently use is the new HTC Incredible. This cellphone has been the best I have used in my lifetime. 6 Months ago I started with a Motorola Droid, and was using it until receiving this phone. There are a few differences between the Motorola and the HTC, which make it a better choice of a phone. Just recently the 2.1 update to the Android OS was released. The 2.1 update added amazing features like multi-touch, and speech to text. One great feature in the HTC model is the built in radio tuner. You must use a pair or headphones as a antenna for the radio feature but you need them to listen to the radio anyway.

Sound quality is far superior to my Motorola droid. The weight of this handset is lower then the weight of the Motorola also. If you want a sleek simpler to use phone I would recommend the HTC, but if a slide out keyboard is needed buy the original Motorola Droid. The Motorola has a slide out keyboard, which is a 1UP to this model, but extended features far outweigh the missing features. Some have said that the phone has a cheap feeling, yes it has a slight plastic feeling, but the material used is different then any cellphone I have owned.

A few bad points: The HTC incredible battery is lower rated then the Motorola, and thinner. I could get a day or more with the battery in the original droid, but after trying the incredible, and running multiple simultaneous apps I can say that the battery sucks. I on an average charge my phone mid-day so it doesn't run out by the time I get home from work at night. Some applications in the Android marketplace do not work correctly for the HTC incredible. With a smaller built in memory 8GB this is half the standard droid's 16GB card. The good point of this is the SD slot will take additional memory, but you will need to purchase another card for it. I myself use a memory card reader and adapter that came with my Micro SD card to transfer files between my phone and computer.

The good: The amazing OLED screen makes this phone shine. No really, it practically lights my way through my house on the home screen, because of the brightness of this upgraded screen. Also, the new applications that are specific to certain droid phones really shine on the HTC model. The built in media player is light years ahead of the standard Motorola one, and the photo album is faster and very easy to navigate. The 8MP camera is insanely clear and bright; the dual LED flash will light up any place to take a great picture. In my testing pictures from lower light areas produce lower quality pictures.

Overall in conclusion, the HTC Droid Incredible is a amazing piece of technology. For the average price of -0 dollars this phone is worth every penny. Verizon has the largest network available through the country, with 3G available for most of it. Don't fall for the iPhone AT&T trap with spotty, unreliable 3G coverage. You can find a unique Android based phone to match your everyday needs. A high point to owning an android phone is the way Google Apps are highly integrated. In a matter of seconds you can get yourself signed into Gmail, and sync your facebook contacts into your phone, instantly having most your friends, family, and acquaintances at the touch of your fingers.
